The Dance Associate in Arts Degree at Fullerton College emphasizes technique and performance, with integrated study of choreography, production, repertory, appreciation, and conditioning. Graduates can transfer as dance majors to pursue an advanced degree, or move toward teaching, choreographing, and performing at community and private venues.
Required courses include ballet from beginning through intermediate levels, jazz, modern dance, dance composition, production or rehearsal and performance, and repertory or ensemble work. Restricted electives let students sample styles such as tap, Middle Eastern, Afro-Caribbean, and commercial dance. Learning outcomes cover intermediate technique, choreography and audition skills, and the ability to analyze dance through historical and stylistic lenses.
The degree takes 28-30 units in total. The training also contributes to students' management skills, collaboration strategies, and aesthetic understanding.
