AA/AS in Human Services, General

The Human Services program at Genesee Community College prepares students to support people at every life stage, from infancy to older adulthood. The field spans many careers in public and private organizations, all aimed at helping people overcome obstacles and live independently. Students may specialize in addiction studies, aging, or developmental disabilities. Many complete internship placements with advocacy groups, youth and family agencies, government offices, legal providers and rehabilitation programs, and learn to apply the ethical standards of the profession. Graduates can advance into management of human services, counseling, social work, teaching or consulting, and may change specialty over time. The college offers the program as both an Associate in Science and an Associate in Applied Science, and publishes a curriculum worksheet for 2026-2027.
