AA/AS in Computer Science

Computer Science at Hartnell College is available as an associate degree for transfer inside the broader Computer Science and Information Systems area. The discipline covers programming, network administration and cybersecurity, and favors hands-on practice that builds usable technical skills. The transfer degree sits alongside a locally focused associate degree in computer science and certificate options in the same area, giving students several ways to match their goals. Typical career directions include software development and information technology. A program map and career information are published for each option to help students sequence their classes. The STEM office on the main campus can answer questions about enrolling and about how the pathway connects to four-year institutions. Students are encouraged to talk with a counselor to confirm which courses fit their intended destination and to build a realistic term-by-term plan.
