AA/AS in Agriculture, General

Hartnell College offers agriculture study at its Salinas-area campuses, built around a mix of practical field experience and grounding in core agricultural concepts. This associate-level pathway sits within a wider set of agriculture options that also includes certificates in food safety and production. Students who pursue this area are preparing for work such as roles ranging from farm management to food science, soil and plant science, agricultural engineering and specialist advisory work. A mentoring and paid work-based learning initiative called Learning to Lead supports agriculture students along the way. Prospective students can view a program map and career information for each option, and a dedicated program specialist is available to answer questions about the discipline. The college sits in the heart of a major farming region, which gives coursework a strong local context. Students are encouraged to talk with a counselor to confirm which courses fit their intended destination and to build a realistic term-by-term plan.
