AA/AS in Biology, General

Biology at Hartnell College introduces students to life science and the basic principles that govern living organisms. Courses are intended to build curiosity and understanding, and they can be applied toward transfer to four-year institutions or applied to the prerequisite lists that nursing and similar health programs set. The discipline offers both an associate degree in science and an associate degree in science for transfer, so students can choose the route that suits their plans. Graduates may work toward careers in agriculture, health, research and teaching. Program maps and career information are posted for each option, and the STEM office on the main campus is available to help students with questions about the major. Students are encouraged to talk with a counselor to confirm which courses fit their intended destination and to build a realistic term-by-term plan.
