AA/AS in Astronomy and Astrophysics

Hartnell College's Astronomy program explores how celestial bodies behave and what physical processes act upon them across the universe. Students can take astronomy to satisfy natural science requirements or to pursue an associate degree in science in the subject. The discipline can lead toward opportunities at planetariums and observatories, running telescopes, or teaching and research at a university. The program map and career information published for the degree help students plan their path. Questions about the major can be directed to the STEM office on the main campus, which supports students in the sciences and mathematics and can explain how courses fit different goals. Students are encouraged to talk with a counselor to confirm which courses fit their intended destination and to build a realistic term-by-term plan.
