Overview

The Engineering associate degree at Hartnell College is a two-year pathway meant to prepare students to transfer into any engineering discipline at a four-year university. The field applies mathematics and science to build practical solutions, from everyday devices to large infrastructure. Students working toward this degree are positioned for later specialization in areas such as mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing, civil, electrical, computer and software engineering. A separate certificate in engineering fundamentals is also offered within the same discipline. Planning tools, including a program map and career information, are available online. The STEM office on the main campus is the contact point for questions about the major and how its courses fit a transfer plan. Students are encouraged to talk with a counselor to confirm which courses fit their intended destination and to build a realistic term-by-term plan.
