AA/AS in Economics

The Economics program at Hartnell College introduces students to how individuals, businesses, and governments decide to use limited resources. Courses cover microeconomics and macroeconomics, international trade, and social welfare, among other topics. The degree offered is an Associate in Arts for Transfer, designed for students who plan to continue toward a bachelor's degree at a four-year institution. A program map outlines the sequence of courses. Graduates and transfer students can aim for work in finance, public policy, government agencies, business, data analysis, accounting, and education. The Social Sciences office at Hartnell supports students with questions about the major. The program page links a program map and career information for each credential, and the college encourages students to contact the listed staff when they want help comparing options, planning their schedule, or deciding between entering the workforce and transferring.
