Cert in Graphic Communications

The Visual Communications Technology certificate at the SouthWest College for the Deaf trains students for employment in the graphics field. Completing the Level I certificate requires 37 credit hours, and the program is designed to take two semesters. Instruction covers graphics software on Macintosh computers, prepress work, print production procedures, finishing and binding, and screen printing. Courses include computer graphics, drawing and digital imaging. Students must earn a C or better in each course in the sequence before advancing. Graduates may look for work as graphic designers or artists with government or state agencies and in business or industry. Additional basic skills coursework or sign communication classes may be required depending on prior preparation. Questions about scheduling can go to the program office.
