Global Studies at Loyola University Chicago is an interdisciplinary program available as a major or a minor. It examines forces of politics, culture, trade and ecology shaping regions outside the United States, and on how international pressures and exchanges with America have influenced societies since the nineteenth century.
Both tracks require an introductory class, advanced work in the field and electives, and students must also reach set levels of ability in a modern foreign language. Majors additionally take foundational classes in anthropology and political science.
Majors may follow a general plan of study or specialize. Thematic concentrations include international relations, economics and business, organizations, conflict and peace, cultures, ethics and social justice, health and development, and art, film and literature. Regional options cover Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. The program also hosts events and invites prospective students to request information or apply online.
