AA/AS in Economics

Economics at MiraCosta College is taught in the social science department. The field examines how societies handle scarcity in producing, distributing and consuming goods and services. Students use the classes either as groundwork toward economics at a university or to complete general education. The college publishes separate major preparation maps for students heading to CSU and UC campuses. Career directions named by the department range from banking and insurance to real estate, marketing, law, politics, journalism, health care and teaching. Academic maps outline the classes to take, and counselors help personalize each plan.
