Overview

Pre-Engineering is an Associate of Science plan for students who intend to finish an engineering degree at a four-year school. The curriculum builds a grounding in physics, chemistry and math, and gives an introduction to engineering as a discipline. Alongside the science and math courses, students also take English, communication, social science and humanities electives of a general kind. Together these fulfill the core curriculum, which keeps the degree aligned with what receiving universities usually expect. The same page also lists a physics degree, so students interested in either direction can compare them. Detailed requirements for each curriculum are available in the Navarro College Catalog, and licensing rules for some professions depend on Texas and federal law. The degree is a good fit for students who like problem solving with numbers and lab work.
