AA/AS in Civil Engineering Technologies/Technicians

This two-year degree trains technicians who assist civil engineers on projects involving structures, public works, building, transportation and the environment. Hiring organizations include consultancies, design firms, building contractors and public agencies. The curriculum includes mechanics, properties of materials and materials laboratories. The degree gives early access to engineering support jobs, and graduates may move on to the related applied science bachelor's. Courses include CAD, surveying, materials, structural design and specifications and estimating. ABET's technology accreditation commission has approved the program. Surveying, structural design and Civil 3D are among the practical subjects, and the credential opens a route to the bachelor's level.
