AA/AS in Mechanical Engineering Related Technologies/Technicians

This two-plus-two program offers an associate degree after full-time study, after which graduates may start a technical career or continue toward the bachelor's degree. The program also lists educational objectives developed with an industrial advisory committee. Those who want a bachelor's can stay on for a further four semesters of full-time study. Students learn the principles behind machine design, testing, energy conversion and manufacturing, supported by communication, mathematics and science. Courses include solid modeling, programmable logic controllers, robotics and numerical control. Graduates work as engineering technicians, assisting engineers by drafting, designing and testing mechanical products and the equipment used in manufacturing. The program is ABET accredited. Strong exposure to communication, mathematics and science rounds out the technical training.
