BA/BS in Applied Mathematics

Applied mathematics at RIT is a bachelor of science focused on using mathematical models to solve practical problems in areas such as navigation, manufacturing, and encryption. The approach starts with a real problem, breaks it into variables, and uses computing to explore alternative solutions. Students can meet recruiters from national laboratories at career fairs, and recent graduates have taken jobs in finance, technology, and defense. A student club brings together those interested in mathematics and statistics. A combined accelerated bachelor's and master's route is available, and international students may qualify for the STEM OPT extension. The degree supports careers in analytical roles as well as graduate study. Students learn to turn practical questions into models and test them using computers.
