BA/BS in Biotechnology

This bachelor of science program trains students to develop technologies used in genetics, agriculture, drug and vaccine work, energy, environmental science, and forensics. Learners get time on high-end sequencing equipment, including sequencing and annotating whole genomes in the genomics lab. Most elective courses include a laboratory component. Students may carry out undergraduate research, complete a co-op or internship, or study abroad, and a campus club supports networking and outreach. Advising for future medical and veterinary students is available, and graduates have gone on to pharmaceutical companies, cancer centers, and federal research agencies. An accelerated master's option is offered. Learners leave with laboratory skills that apply across the life sciences and related industries. The program also encourages leadership and communication through professional activities and outreach.
