AA/AS in Fire Protection

This Emergency Medical Services and Fire Science option builds on the abilities of practicing paramedics by adding technical fire-service courses. Students learn alongside, and from, working paramedics, firefighters and managers. The degree is not necessary to enter the field at the beginning level, but it may lead to better pay and more responsibility in the fire service, or widen options in other allied health areas. Certificates embedded in the degree are conferred automatically when their requirements are met, unless the student asks otherwise. The Emergency Medical Services department within the Health Sciences division administers this program, which totals 64 to 65 credit hours in the version effective Fall 2021. Prospective students should review the full course list on the program page and meet with an academic advisor to plan their schedule.
