AA/AS in Sociology

Sociology for Transfer prepares students for a sociology major at a CSU campus by teaching sociological theory and methods. Students learn to analyze social inequality, power and privilege and to see how social structure shapes their own lives for active civic participation. Skyline College designed this degree for students who plan to finish a bachelor's at a California State University campus. Finishing it earns a place somewhere in the CSU system, though not at a chosen campus or in a chosen major, and later study at the university stays within a 60-unit ceiling. Applicants aiming at a specific school or at institutions outside the CSU should talk with a Skyline counselor first, since this pathway may not suit them. Every major course needs a C or better.
