AA/AS in Philosophy

Philosophy invites students to examine questions about knowledge, ethics, reasoning and meaning. The study of philosophy builds critical thinking and clear writing that apply across many fields. The program has academic chairs on each of the three campuses, in Selden, Riverhead and Brentwood, so students at any location can reach a faculty contact. Transfer agreements are available for students planning to complete a bachelor's degree elsewhere. Students who plan to continue at a four-year institution can review the transfer agreements Suffolk publishes for its majors. Questions about applying are handled by the Central Admissions office, which is open on weekdays during regular business hours, and each program lists a contact person for academic questions. Course listings are available online, so prospective students can compare requirements before choosing a major and speak with an advisor about next steps.
