PhD in Statistics

This program leads to graduate study in statistics at the University of Iowa. The Graduate College confers the degrees, while teaching comes from the Liberal Arts and Sciences college. Its master's track has no thesis option. Students aiming for the doctorate usually enter through the master's program first. After clearing the qualifying procedure, they move formally into the doctoral stage. Applicants should note that funding decisions for assistantship posts covering research, teaching and grading, are normally made in spring for the coming academic year. Requests for financial support therefore need a complete file by the stated January date. Departmental requirements apply on top of the Graduate College rules.
