BA/BS in Religion/Religious Studies

The Religion and Culture major at Virginia Tech examines how religious and cultural change has shaped human life across the world over time. Students look at how geography, history and popular culture affect communities and traditions, and how those forces influence politics and society. Because the major treats religion as part of human culture, students encounter the subject from historical, geographic, and cultural perspectives. Coursework develops critical thinking and an appreciation for diversity. Graduates have pursued careers in public relations, museum research, education, diplomacy, human resources, journalism, law, publishing, and nonprofit management, along with positions at federal health research agencies, the Peace Corps, and technology companies.
