Program details

Overview

Chemistry at Weber State covers what substances are made of, how they are built, what traits they show, and how they react and change. The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry sits alongside a teaching version, a chemical technician associate degree, minors and a technician certificate. The department emphasizes laboratory work and instrumentation, so students learn how to identify substances and predict the products of reactions. Research projects and internships let students apply this knowledge to practical problems, and many majors earn work experience in the chemistry stockroom, as university lab helpers, or in outside chemistry jobs. The American Chemical Society has certified both the chemistry and the biochemistry bachelor's programs. Graduates can address issues such as food safety and pollution control, or continue to further study in chemistry and engineering-related areas.
