BA/BS in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities

This degree blends arts and humanities with scientific and technical study. Its premise is that technical knowledge is a means toward larger human ends. Faculty guide students toward an understanding of how people behave and how to reason carefully, and nearby cultural institutions host project work, seminars and performances. The major can stand alone, or students can pair it as a double major alongside a program in science, engineering or business. Many students at the university meet a two-unit humanities and arts requirement regardless of major, so the department also serves as a gateway for people who simply want to explore.
