BA/BS in Biology, General

This Bachelor of Science invites students to turn natural curiosity into real scientific skill. Beginning in the first semester, learners move out of lecture halls and into laboratories, where faculty mentors guide them through ongoing research projects. The major serves a variety of ambitions. Some students hope to treat illness, others to safeguard natural environments, and others to push forward work in genetics. Xavier's program provides the facilities, research chances and strong pre-health advising meant to help each of those aims become achievable. Early lab involvement means students gain practical familiarity with scientific methods well before graduation. Working alongside mentors also lets them see how questions are framed, tested and refined, which supports later study or employment. Those preparing for medical or other health professional schools benefit from advisors who understand that path. Students with research or conservation goals can use the same foundation, choosing electives and projects that match their own interests within the broad field of biology.
