Overview
This four-month Welding certificate program provides students with the skills needed for high-quality welding work, covering how welders permanently join metal pieces by applying heat with filler metal or fusion processes to build structures, manufacture components and repair worn or damaged parts. The curriculum covers structural steel and vessel, piping and component welding, along with cutting and gouging processes, and includes specialized techniques such as stud welding, orbital welding and resistance welding, delivered alongside health and safety practices required in the field. Students learn to read blueprints and welding specifications and to operate manual and semi-automatic welding, flame-cutting, brazing and soldering equipment. Graduates who register as apprentices within two years of completing the program may receive credit for Level 1 of the Welder apprenticeship.
