Overview
This program awards a Bachelor of Arts in Community and Urban Transformation, a four-year, 120-credit-hour degree delivered in hybrid format at the Winnipeg campus with Fall and Winter intake terms. It applies an interdisciplinary social-science lens to the city as a dynamic environment, combining traditional urban-studies topics such as planning and development with issues affecting marginalized populations, including poverty, homelessness, and the Indigenous experience, alongside global concerns such as international development and human rights. Coursework builds quantitative and qualitative research methods alongside theoretical grounding in urban studies and the social forces and institutions that shape cities, and students take part in internship placements with local agencies and research apprenticeships with faculty. The program combines community learning, intercultural knowledge building, conflict transformation, and leadership development with classroom study, preparing graduates for work in urban planning, community development, non-profit, government, or advocacy roles connected to city life and social change.
