Business Fundamentals Associate Certificate is a certificate in Business & Management programme taught at British Columbia Institute of Technology in Burnaby, Canada. The programme runs for 1 year, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is CAD 25,800 per total (CAD 8,200 per total for local students).
This certificate offers a route into full-time diploma study in the School of Business, aimed at international and permanent-resident applicants who do not speak English as a first language and have not yet met the standard English-language admission requirement. Its credits can carry into a number of full-time or part-time diploma programs, and applicants who already hold a degree or diploma may enter with advanced standing. For those seeking a shorter program, it also provides a grounding in basic Canadian business practice alongside English-language development, through courses covering computing, organisational behaviour and management, accounting and mathematics, communications, and Canadian business and society. Graduates come away with skills suited to entry-level positions in the Canadian job market.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: English entry is met by one of Composition 11, Creative Writing 11, Literary Studies 11, New Media 11, Spoken Language 11 or English First Peoples 11, each at 50%. Math entry is one of Pre-Calculus 11, Foundations of Mathematics 11 or Workplace Mathematics 11 at 60%, or BCIT's own OPMT 0199/0198 assessment at the same mark. International students completing English as a Second Language study in British Columbia are directed to contact the program head about possible equivalencies, and the certificate itself builds in language development toward BCIT's business-program entry standard. BCIT states this certificate is not eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
