Overview
The BCIT musculoskeletal (MSK) sonography micro-credential will prepare locally employed registered general sonographers (CRGS, RDMS) to work in this specialized area of sonography. In partnership with the British Columbia Health Authorities, you will begin training at BCIT by attending online classes and an in-person workshop in the BCIT sonography lab for some hands-on practice. you will be supported in clinical at their worksite or through the Health Authority. If you are a certified registered general sonographer (CRGS, RDMS), employed with Vancouver Coastal Health, and are interested in MSK sonography, then this course is for you.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to this micro-credential is employer-driven rather than a general application: BCIT admits only British Columbia residents who are already credentialed and employed by a BC Health Authority or a local industry partner, and students are chosen by their employer through that employer's own selection process, run on an as-needed basis according to Health Authority or provincial stakeholder need. Applicants must be graduates of an accredited sonography training program holding Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS – AB/OB/GYN) or Canadian Registered Generalist Sonographer (CRGS) credentials, and must provide proof of Sonography Canada or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography membership. Clinical placements require proof of immunization and agreement to wear all required personal protective equipment. BCIT states no minimum grade, GPA or English/French language test score, and the program is not available to international students because clinical training is supported by the provincial employer.

Openings are 9:00 am and deadlines 11:59 pm Pacific Time, moving to the next business day on a weekend. Admission is not institute-wide rolling, but many programs work first-qualified-first-accepted and can fill before the posted deadline, and several programs, mostly in Health Sciences, trades and graduate studies, run entirely separate application tables of their own.
