Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission is two-step: applicants must first meet BCIT's academic entrance requirements, then submit a departmental portfolio for competitive review. Academically the program sits in BCIT's Category 2 English band, met by English Studies 12 at 67% or equivalent, or by Category 2 international-language scores (IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band under 5.5, TOEFL iBT 86 with no section under 20, PTE Academic 60 with no skill under 60, or Duolingo 120 with no integrated subscore under 95), per BCIT's institution-wide English Language Proficiency page. The mandatory Applicant Questionnaire must accompany the online application. The portfolio must contain 5-7 pieces of the applicant's best work — 3D rendering, graphic design, drawing, painting, photography, or video of animation, dance or acting — labelled with name and BCIT applicant number and presented professionally, with a preference for 3D work. BCIT ranks portfolios competitively once the academic requirement is met, weighing prior project quality, material clarity, presentation and the applicant's understanding of the program.
