Brock University's Bachelor of Science in Earth Sciences, offered through the Faculty of Mathematics and Science, trains geoscientists who study the Earth and other planets to understand their origin and history. Coursework addresses problems such as waste disposal, pollution, groundwater management and geologic hazards, alongside the study of planetary bodies and the long geological record of global change preserved in rocks and sediment. The program is designed to meet the educational requirements for registration as a geoscientist-in-training, the licensing classification leading to the PGeo designation from the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario. Students can tailor their studies to Environmental Geoscience or Geology concentrations, and a co-op option is available. A Minor in Earth Sciences is also offered. Graduates pursue careers such as professional geoscientist, minerals exploration geologist, environmental geoscientist or consultant, hydrogeologist, conservation officer, park warden and paleontologist.
