The Joint Major in Physics and Geophysics combines physics, the study of matter, motion, energy, and force, with geophysics, the study of the physical processes and properties of the Earth and its surrounding space environment using quantitative methods of analysis. The program provides a foundation in both disciplines, preparing students to apply physical science methods to Earth-focused questions such as the structure and dynamics of the planet and its environment. Coursework spans the physics and geophysics departments within the Faculty of Science. The program is structured to support graduate work in geophysics and related fields, as well as direct entry into careers following graduation. Graduates are prepared for further study or work in geophysics, earth sciences, and other fields that require a combined physics and geophysical science background.
