Brock University's Bachelor of Arts in Economics, offered through the Faculty of Social Sciences, studies the 'science of choice' — how limited resources can best be used to meet the needs of individuals and society. Students examine how consumers choose to spend their time and money and how producers predict and respond to consumer demand, building an understanding of the economy as a whole, including the banking system, unemployment, government debt and taxation, international trade and exchange rates, and natural resource use and conservation. A Minor in Economics is also available to students in other programs. The program participates in Brock's Law Plus initiative and includes co-op, experiential learning and international opportunities. Graduates pursue careers such as private-sector or government economist, business manager, corporate lawyer and financial investment planner.
