Brock University's BA in History, offered through the Faculty of Humanities, examines how people in the past lived and worked, formed families and governments, and established or resisted cultural and social norms, across broad regions including Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and North America. Specialized areas include the history of science, Indigenous history, women's and gender history, digital history, and the history of human rights, with first-year courses designed to connect the study of the past to everyday life today. Lecture courses include small-group seminars for close engagement with readings and student-led discussion, and advanced majors work in close-knit seminars on specialized topics. The department runs an undergraduate History society and a student research journal. It is a four-year degree with a co-op option, a minor, and experiential learning opportunities also offered.
