The Master of Arts in History at Brock University trains students in specialized historical fields through student-led research, combining faculty mentorship, experiential learning, and public engagement. The program develops critical analysis of primary and secondary sources through cohort-wide courses in historiography and methodology. Students may complete the degree through a Major Research Paper (MRP) route, an MRP route with a co-op work term, or a thesis route, with the co-op option enriching research and communication skills. Admission is offered for a September start, available full-time or part-time. Applicants must meet Brock's general graduate admission requirements, submit transcripts from all prior post-secondary study, three references, and a one-page statement of intent outlining their research objectives in the History Department. A sample of scholarly writing, such as an essay, journal article, research paper, or single-authored thesis chapter of no more than 20 pages, is also required. The program is offered by the Faculty of Humanities.
