Brock University's Bachelor of Arts in Tourism and Environment, offered through the Department of Geography and Tourism Studies in the Faculty of Social Sciences, examines tourism management and planning through the lens of economic, environmental, social, and political sustainability. The program is based in Niagara, a major travel destination, and addresses questions of balancing the economic benefits of tourism against consequences such as pollution, biodiversity loss, and cultural change. A Tourism Management stream, allied with the Goodman School of Business, adds business-focused coursework. Students can take part in a University of Florida/Walt Disney World Resort internship, one of only four such placements offered in Canada, along with international field courses, exchange programs, a co-op option, and industry internships. A minor in Tourism Studies is also available. Career paths include heritage interpreter, hotel and resort manager, nature-based tourism guide, tourism policy analyst, tourism marketer, and wine and culinary industry roles. The degree runs over four years at Brock's St. Catharines campus.
