Overview
The Medical Radiology Diploma has intensive theoretical and practical instruction through lectures, labs, online courses, and practical experience in a clinical environment. You're expected to act as surrogate patients to learn positioning techniques, as well as interpersonal skills. Clinical placements provide the opportunity to apply your knowledge in hospitals throughout Vancouver Island. You'll learn and practice the same ionizing radiation safety standards and procedures that are strictly enforced at all public health facilities.

Admission Requirements: Competitive entry with academic and non-academic components. Academic: English 12 at B or the Camosun English 12 alternative at B; Pre-calculus 12 at B, or the Camosun Math 12 alternative, MATH 108 or MATH 100 at B; Physics 11 at B or its Camosun alternative at B; and Anatomy and Physiology 12 at B, or its Camosun alternative, BIOL 150, BIOL 152 with BIOL 153, or PNUR 101 at B. Non-academic, all required: a completed Program Preparedness Profile, the Medical Radiography acknowledgement of physical and programme requirements online form, and attendance at a Medical Radiography information session (an online version is available) with the follow-up questionnaire. At the close of the cycle every complete application is ranked on the average GPA of the prerequisites; the Program Preparedness Profiles of the top-ranked group are then scored, and seats are offered conditionally on completing the programme participation requirements before the start date. A short waitlist covers the same intake year only. Camosun sets aside priority seats for qualified Indigenous applicants in its Health Sciences and Human Services programmes for part of each year, under a process approved by the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal. INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS must clear Camosun's general college English standard on top of anything listed here — IELTS Academic 6.0 with no sub-score under 6.0, TOEFL iBT 78 with no sub-score under 19, PTE Academic 54 with no sub-score under 50, Cambridge C1 Advanced 174 with no sub-score under 169, or CAEL CE 60 with no component under 60, taken within the past two years — because the college states that its general standard applies even where a programme page shows a lower one.
