Practical Nursing Diploma

Admission Requirements: One of English 12 at C+ or the Camosun English 12 alternative at C; one of Math 11 at C or its Camosun alternative at C; plus PNUR 101 at C+ (or equivalent) and Grade 12 graduation or its equivalent. Anatomy and Physiology 12 at C or better is itself a prerequisite for PNUR 101; Camosun's BIOL 150 and 151, BIOL 152 and 153, or BIOL 143 and 144 can stand in for PNUR 101. ENGLISH IS HANDLED UNDER THE PROVINCIAL PRACTICAL NURSING STANDARD, NOT THE ORDINARY COLLEGE ONE, and it applies to domestic and international applicants alike. It is satisfied by three years of full-time, in-person secondary or post-secondary study at an accredited institution where English was both the language of instruction and an official language of the country; ESL or EAL courses do not count toward those three years. Anyone who cannot show that must reach IELTS Speaking 7.0, Listening 7.5, Reading 6.5, Writing 7.0 and 7.0 overall, or CELBAN Speaking 8.0, Listening 10.0, Reading 8.0 and Writing 7.0. The page also carries a COVID-era allowance for the TOEFL iBT Home Edition at Speaking 23, Listening 27, Reading 19, Writing 27 and 96 overall for applicants unable to sit IELTS or CELBAN. Graduates are eligible to sit the REx-PN and register as a Licensed Practical Nurse in British Columbia. Camosun sets aside priority seats for qualified Indigenous applicants in its Health Sciences and Human Services programmes for part of each year, under a process approved by the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal.
