Information Systems is a concentration within Carleton University's Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), combining a dual understanding of business processes and information and communication technologies. The programme prepares students to deliver technology-driven solutions that exploit existing business opportunities and create new ones. Sample courses include Foundations of Information Systems and IT Infrastructure, which covers IT service levels, data communications, networks, internetworking, service-oriented architecture, web services, software as a service, server and storage virtualization, network security, and business continuity and disaster recovery. All BCom students complete Sprott's Employability Passport, a four-year career development program building job-ready skills, and a co-op option is available for students to test career paths, build a professional network, and earn money toward costs. Based on surveys of 2020-2022 graduates, 92 per cent of BCom respondents were employed within one year of graduation. Sample career paths include business analytics, consulting, digital marketing, management and project management.
