Overview
This program leads to a Master of Business Administration, offered in two formats: a Professional MBA and an Online MBA. The Professional MBA runs over 16 months with in-person classes held Friday and Saturday every two weeks, based at the main Ottawa campus for a Fall start or at a Kanata satellite location for a Winter start, and requires a minimum of five years of professional work experience. The Online MBA is self-paced and fully asynchronous, with multiple entry points across the year including a summer intake not available to the Professional MBA. Online MBA students may choose a concentration in Business Analytics, Financial Management, or Management and Change, or complete the degree without one. Coursework addresses strategic management, complex decision-making, and core business functions. The program is accredited by AACSB International. It is designed for working professionals seeking to advance their careers rather than students moving directly from an undergraduate degree, and the choice between formats lets applicants match the program to their schedule and location.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Carleton's Sprott School of Business sets a common minimum for its MBA programs: a four-year undergraduate degree in any discipline with a cumulative GPA of a 'B' over all four years, or equivalent. Applicants must submit a GMAT score of at least 550, or an equivalent GRE score; those without one may instead complete the online MBA Math course with a minimum of 80% in each module and 80% overall. The Professional MBA additionally requires at least five years of relevant professional work experience. Two recommendations are required, from professors for applicants with under four years of experience or from professional superiors otherwise, and a video interview may follow if shortlisted. Non-native English speakers must submit TOEFL iBT 87 (minimum 22 per component), CAEL 70, or IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (minimum 6.0 per band), unless exempt. Carleton's MBA programs admit for Fall and Winter, with the Online MBA also opening in Summer.
