Overview
This program leads to a Master of Applied Science in Aerospace Engineering, delivered in person in Ottawa over two years and structured as a thesis-based degree, with admission dependent on securing supervision from a faculty member for the research project. Specialization areas include Acoustics and Aeroacoustics, Aerodynamics and Fluid Mechanics, Aero-servo-elasticity, Aero-Structures, Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Vehicles, Combustion and Heat Transfer, Dynamics and Mechanical Vibrations, Fluid-Structure Interaction, Prognostics and Health Management, Robotics, Controls, Guidance and Navigation, Solids and Fracture Mechanics, Space and Satellite Technologies, and Vibrations, and students can also pursue collaborative specializations in Climate Change or Data Science. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Carleton's master's programs in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MASc/MEng) normally require a bachelor's degree with at least high honours standing in mechanical or aerospace engineering or a related discipline. Carleton's general graduate minimum also applies: a four-year honours bachelor's degree with a B+ average or better in the major subjects and B- or better overall. MASc applicants must additionally secure the support of a faculty member willing to supervise their research before admission. Non-native English speakers must meet Carleton's graduate English-proficiency standard unless exempt: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (minimum 6.0 per band), TOEFL iBT 86 for tests before 21 January 2026 or 4.5 overall thereafter (minimum 5.0 writing, 4.5 reading/listening/speaking), PTE Academic 60, Duolingo 125 (minimum 120 per sub-score), or CAEL 70 (minimum 60 per band).
