Entrepreneurship is a Bachelor of Commerce specialization at Carleton University's Sprott School of Business covering the entrepreneurial process from idea inception through to implementation in the marketplace. Students take courses such as managerial accounting for business students and entrepreneurial strategies, and share classes with students in the Minor in Entrepreneurship for an interdisciplinary learning environment. The program provides access to Carleton's Innovation Hub for entrepreneurial learning, incubation and startup acceleration, a co-op work-experience option and the Employability Passport, a four-year career development initiative. Program surveys report that 92 per cent of BCom respondents were employed within one year of graduation. Graduates pursue careers in consulting, digital marketing, small business management and sustainable business development, among other fields, drawing on both business fundamentals and entrepreneurial coursework.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), including its Accounting, Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, International Business, Management, and Marketing concentrations, requires the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with six Grade 12 U or M courses. These must include 4U English, Advanced Functions, and either Calculus and Vectors or Mathematics of Data Management, with Calculus and Vectors preferred. Applicants who submit an English-language proficiency test may use it to also satisfy the 4U English prerequisite. Students do not choose a concentration until after first year, so all concentrations share this first-year entry standard. Advanced standing to second year or beyond normally requires an overall CGPA of 9.00 (B+) or higher. Direct entry to the co-op option additionally requires meeting the program's overall and prerequisite-course cut-off averages, full-time registration in the Honours program, and eligibility to work in Canada. Admission averages are set each year on a program-by-program basis and the minimum only establishes eligibility for consideration.
