Program details

Overview

Techniques d'education a l'enfance (code 322.A1) is a Diploma of College Studies (DEC) offered by Cegep de l'Abitibi-Temiscamingue at its Rouyn-Noranda campus, training early childhood educators. The program includes employment-based internships and has no specific secondary-school subject prerequisite. Students learn to design age-appropriate educational activities, support and stimulate children's development during their earliest years, observe children in order to propose actions adapted to their individual needs, and work collaboratively with parents as partners in a child's development. Typical workplaces include childcare centres (CPE), schools, and home-based childcare settings, including a graduate's own home-based service. Graduates work as early childhood educators. The program suits students who enjoy watching children grow and learn, want to contribute to raising engaged future citizens, bring imagination to planning and organizing activities, and communicate easily and warmly with both children and their parents, positioning themselves as a significant, steady presence in a child's early life.

Requirements
