Overview
This program combines agricultural production and business-management training, giving students hands-on experience each semester using the cégep's farm-school facilities, including greenhouses, farm buildings, and fields. Coursework covers animal production, crop production, finances, labour management, machinery, and farm buildings, alongside management and entrepreneurship skills for running an agricultural business. The three-year Diploma of College Studies (DEC) offers DEC-BAC pathways into Université Laval's Agronomy and Agroeconomics bachelor's programs, a paid work-study (alternance travail-études) option, and international study opportunities. Graduates work as agricultural business managers or farm advisors, or in related roles across crop, livestock, and agribusiness operations, and may continue to university studies in agriculture-related fields.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants need a DES, a DEP, training judged equivalent by the cégep, or at least 24 cumulative months of interrupted full-time study with sufficient training and experience. DEP holders must also have passed Secondary 5 language of instruction, Secondary 5 second language, and Secondary 4 mathematics. The program itself has no additional specific prerequisites, though a valid driver's licence is recommended for operating farm machinery.
