Overview
Cégep de Lévis is a public French-language college of general and vocational education located in Lévis, Quebec, on the south shore of the St.
Lawrence River opposite Quebec City. Created on May 7, 1969, as Cégep de Lévis-Lauzon under the province-wide collegial reform that followed the Parent Report, it opened with roughly 685 students at the former Institut de technologie de Lauzon before moving in 1975 into a purpose-built, star-shaped campus arranged around a central mall meant to encourage interaction across the college community, the first cégep building in Quebec constructed entirely from scratch.
The institution adopted its current name, Cégep de Lévis, in 2020. Enrollment has grown from just over 2,000 students at the new campus opening to roughly 2,900 today, and the college has awarded more than 34,000 diplomas over its history.
It now offers about 35 programs spanning pre-university DEC streams in natural sciences, human sciences, and the arts, technical DECs in fields such as nursing, computer science, mechanical engineering, and social work, and continuing-education AEC prograMs. Facilities include a renovated library, science and biotechnology laboratories, student residences, and a sports complex home to the Faucons, who field roughly 350 student-athletes across 16 teaMs. The college also supports work-study placements, international student exchanges, and DEC-BAC transfer agreements with Quebec universities.
