Diploma in 3D Animation and Computer-Generated Imagery Technology

This CEGEP technical programme (574.C0), offered by Cegep de Matane, trains students in 3D animation and computer-generated imagery production for a production-studio context. Coursework takes students through the animation pipeline: designing and modelling characters, objects, and environments; applying textures and colours; setting up lighting; animating graphic elements; and producing the final render of a finished animation. The programme runs across six sessions of full-time study, corresponding to three years, and leads to a Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC). Admission requires a Diploma of Secondary Studies (DES) and satisfaction of the college's general CEGEP admission conditions. International applicants are instead required to have completed the equivalent of an eleventh-grade education within a recognized school system before applying. As with other technical DEC programmes in Quebec, the curriculum pairs this programme-specific technical training with the province's required general-education coursework, and the credential qualifies graduates for direct entry to the workforce or for further postsecondary study.
