Overview
Arts, lettres et communication, option Langues, is a pre-university DEC that lets students deepen their knowledge of second and foreign languages while building a historical, artistic, literary, and cultural perspective on their own society and the societies they come into contact with. The option centres on advanced-level English and Spanish, along with an introduction to Arabic; the college notes it is the only cégep to include Arabic within its required coursework, offered as a way to explore contemporary issues such as immigration, culture, and religion, its influence on Spanish language and culture, opportunities to interact with native speakers in the Saint-Hyacinthe region, and exposure to a different alphabet. Students beginning with no prior Spanish start from an introductory course adapted to their level. The program also includes cultural outings and trips, support from a language-learning assistant (moniteur de langues), and an annual «Semaine des arts» bringing in guests from the cultural community. Admission is rolling by round, not a single fixed date. The college's own site confirms SRAM processes all Montérégie cégep applications, and flags that Interprétation théâtrale requires auditions ahead of the SRAM application.
