Program details

Overview

Techniques de diététique is a technical DEC that trains students for work across nutrition, food-service management, and food processing. Teaching is practice-oriented, placing students in concrete situations such as integrative projects in nutrition, management, and food transformation, with some paid student-employment opportunities. Students visit food-processing plants and institutional kitchens and take part in professional events in the field. Credited work placements (stages) take place in two different settings chosen according to student interest, with the possibility of an international placement. The department provides three specialized laboratories: one for food transformation and analysis, a kitchen with a sales counter for production and distribution practice, and a kitchen with individual stations for exploring food preparation techniques. Students also have free access to specialized software for nutritional analysis, nutrition-label production, and recipe and menu management, along with a laptop program with free software and technical support. The program maintains ties with Cintech agroalimentaire, a college technology-transfer centre, and with food-industry partners in the region's agri-food hub, and students are eligible for program-specific scholarships. It suits students interested in nutrition, food-service operations, or food-industry careers who want a hands-on, lab- and placement-based training path.
