Diploma in Techniques de santé animale

Techniques de santé animale is a technical DEC delivered in teaching laboratories located at the Université de Montréal's Faculté de médecine vétérinaire, in Saint-Hyacinthe's education and research district. Training covers three areas of practice: traditional and newer companion animals, laboratory animals, and farm animals. The teaching team is made up of veterinarians supported by animal health technicians, and the program is structured to give students hands-on contact with animals starting in the first term. Because the program is demanding, general-education courses are spread across the first five terms so that the final term can be devoted entirely to program-specific training and end-of-studies clinical placements (stages). The Cégep places particular emphasis on hours spent working with production (farm) animals, alongside companion-animal and laboratory-animal components. It suits students interested in animal health and veterinary-support careers who want direct, supervised contact with animals across varied settings, from clinical practice to farm and laboratory environments, delivered in partnership with a university veterinary faculty.
