Program details

Overview

Tremplin DEC is a bridging pathway rather than a program leading to its own diploma, intended for students who are not ready or able to enrol in a regular college program. It lets students combine general-education courses with upgrading (mise à niveau) courses chosen to meet the prerequisites of the specific program they eventually wish to enter, or to explore fields of interest through introductory courses before committing to a career direction. Enrolment can be full-time or part-time and is limited to a maximum of three consecutive terms, excluding summer; a student who interrupts college studies for at least one term can be admitted again for up to three further consecutive terms. It is aimed at students holding a Secondary School Diploma (or, in some cases, a DEP) who are undecided about their academic and career orientation, want to strengthen their academic record, are missing prerequisites for the program they want, or wish to advance their general education before starting that program. Course offerings depend on space available in the relevant introductory and upgrading courses. It suits students needing a flexible transition term rather than a complete technical or pre-university credential.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Tremplin DEC admits holders of a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES) or, in some cases, a Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP), aimed at students who are undecided about their academic direction, want to strengthen their school record, are missing prerequisites for the program they want, or want to advance their general education before starting it. As with all Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe programs, admission is processed through SRAM (admission.sram.qc.ca); a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES) is the general entry basis. Applicants whose Secondary 5 written French mark was 65% or below and whose overall average was under 75% are placed in the upgrading course 601-013-HY before taking program-level French; a French-mastery test is required at application for those who did not take regular Secondary 5 French or who studied outside Quebec, and applicants from outside Quebec whose mother tongue is not French must submit an approved international French test (the Cégep recommends Bright) with their SRAM file. Every admitted student also sits an English placement test that sets their starting English course level.

Application Details

Start Date: September and January
Application Deadline: Domestic and international applicants to Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe apply through the shared SRAM portal (admission.sram.qc.ca) serving Montréal-region cégeps. For Winter 2027, applications opened 15 September 2026, Round 1 closes 1 November 2026 and Round 2 closes 25 November 2026, with unfilled seats carried forward. SRAM has not yet posted Fall 2027 domestic dates. Internationally, SRAM's Fall 2027 window runs 15 March 2026 to 14 March 2027; its next window (Winter 2028) runs 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027. Admission is rolling by round, not a single fixed date. The college's own site confirms SRAM processes all Montérégie cégep applications, and flags that Interprétation théâtrale requires auditions ahead of the SRAM application. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
