Diploma in Tremplin DEC

Tremplin DEC (ministry program 081.06) is a transitional pathway at Cégep de Sorel-Tracy for students who are not yet ready to enter a regular technical or pre-university program. Over a period the college caps at three terms, students combine common general-education courses (French, English, philosophy, physical education) with one of several possible tracks: finishing outstanding high-school prerequisites needed for admission to a specific program, completing a Secondary V diploma when only a small number of credits remain, or sampling introductory courses from a program of interest before committing to it. Students receive individualized support from an academic advisor and a guidance counsellor from the moment they register, aimed at easing the shift from secondary to college studies and helping them settle on a definitive program. The pathway also serves currently enrolled college students who want to keep progressing through general-education courses while they reconsider their program choice. Because it extends a student's college studies beyond the minimum required terms, Tremplin DEC is best suited to students needing more time to clarify their academic direction rather than those ready to start a full program immediately.
